North-east Tory MSP Alex Johnstone added: "While the sheriffs should reward people who plead guilty for not wasting court time, the public should be protected from these despicable people who attack vulnerable old ladies on their way to church."

Geddes struck three times in Aberdeen in eight days last year. The court heard that Geddes, 33, of Jute Street, Aberdeen, was so sickened Replica Monogram Multicolore by his own attacks he endured withdrawal symptoms while he came off drugs.

He was jailed for three years and four months.

Geddes's first victim was a 65-year-old woman who was walking to St Stephen's Church in Powis one night last October around 7pm. He asked her for the time before wrenching her bag from her grasp.

The pensioner was treated for swelling to her wrist following the attack.

Three days later, Geddes attacked a 20-year-old firstyear student near Aberdeen University around 2pm, grabbing her bag. She needed surgery after he dragged a blade across her hand and severed three tendons.

Five days after the second attack, Geddes hit a Chinese woman on the head as he tried to
